Browning wins 800m at Saucony Hampshire Grand Prix

Charlotte Browning competed in a race close to her home town, the Saucony Hampshire Grand Prix, in Basingstoke, England. Even though it was considered a local, low-key race, Browning’s training partner, Vicky Fouhy was also in field. Like Browning, Fouhy had raced in the 1500m prelims at the UK Championships. A rabbit pulled them through in 59, and Charlotte hung on to the lead from there, running 2:05.08 for the win. Fouhy also ran well, placing second in a personal best time of 2:05.55. For Browning, it was her first 800m since 2011 where she tore her calf, which led to her decision to have surgery on her ankle to fix the chronic issues she had been experiencing. Before that, she had run 2:02 in 2010. Thus, this race was another good stepping stone for Browning as she continues to inch closer to her old form. Her next event is a 1500m race in Watford on Wednesday.
